Before you apply

First check whether your nationality appears on the current official visa-on-arrival (VoA) eligibility list. Do not rely on an old screenshot or an agent's country list. Eligibility can change.

The current B1 page asks for a passport valid for at least six months, a recent photograph for the electronic application and a return or onward ticket. The e-VOA must be used within 90 days after issue. That 90-day period is the window in which to enter, not the permitted length of stay.

The clean arrival sequence

  1. Create the application on the official eVisa portal.
  2. Check every passport field before payment. A mismatch in the name, nationality or passport number can require a new application.
  3. Pay the official B1 charge shown by the portal. The coded B1 page currently states IDR 500,000 for the first 30 days.
  4. Save the portable document format (PDF) visa file and application reference offline.
  5. Complete the All Indonesia arrival card during the three days before arrival.
  6. Travel with the same passport used in the application and keep the onward ticket available.

The official B1 page says the system sends the e-VOA within 1 x 24 hours. That is a service statement, not a safe promise for a flight booked the same day. Apply early enough to solve a payment, upload or manual-review problem.

All Indonesia is separate from the visa

Since 1 October 2025, the government requires passengers arriving from abroad to complete the integrated All Indonesia declaration. The official launch notice describes one form combining immigration, customs, health and quarantine information.

It does not replace the visa. It does not extend a stay. It is the arrival declaration for that journey. Use the government domain and do not pay for the form.

Who can use an autogate

The Directorate General of Immigration says foreign nationals may use an autogate when they hold an electronic passport and an e-VOA or Indonesian eVisa. Its guidance also directs children aged 14 or younger to manual inspection. Read the current autogate eligibility notice before relying on the facility.

Even when those conditions are met, the safe wording is that the traveller may be eligible to use the autogate. A machine can refer a passport to an officer. A gate may be unavailable. Biometric matching can fail. A technical referral does not by itself invalidate the visa. The officer may still verify the document and admission conditions, and a visa does not guarantee entry.

What B1 allows

The current B1 page lists tourism, visiting family, transit and attendance at meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions. It does not turn participation into employment. It does not authorize selling goods or services or receiving pay, wages or compensation from an Indonesian person or company.

Extension and conflicting status-change guidance

B1 starts at 30 days and may be extended once, giving a maximum total of 60 days. The current coded page says an electronic extension may be initiated online.

The IDR 500,000 shown above is the initial B1 fee. Check the current extension charge in the official portal before applying for the additional 30 days.

Official guidance is less clear about changing status. The coded 2026 B1 page mentions a separate temporary change-of-status mechanism, while an eVisa FAQ says the status cannot be converted. Do not build a relocation plan around either statement. If a change of status matters, confirm the current procedure in the portal or with the issuing immigration office before the B1 expires.

Mistakes that cost time or money

  • Applying through a lookalike domain without comparing the final fee with the official portal.
  • Entering a passport number that does not match the travel document exactly.
  • Treating 90-day visa validity as 90 days in Indonesia.
  • Forgetting that the permitted stay begins on arrival.
  • Assuming that an e-VOA guarantees the autogate or removes every queue.
  • Using B1 for paid work, local services or daily business operations.

What this changes for a property project

Do not assume that B1 covers investment due diligence or a site inspection. The coded C1 page expressly lists inspecting a potential investment site, while C2 covers defined business visits. If land or investment inspection is a material purpose of the trip, compare C1 and C2 in the live portal. No visit visa makes the traveller the project's local employee, salesperson, site manager or villa operator.
